$1.00, Florida, Sept. 16, 1861, Serial Number 694, First Series, First Printing, VERY GOOD/FINE. There are 4 dates in the 1861 $1.00, $2.00 and $3.00 Florida notes. This is an example of the first date, the very rare Sept. 16th date signed by Governor Madison S. Perry. He left office October 1, 1861. Only low grade notes are known and finding an example above the grade of very good is difficult. The "Perry" signature is weak, but identifiable. There are only a few very tiny pin holes which can only be seen with careful inspection when the note is held up to a light source. Some minor margin nicks are noted for accuracy on this better than average example. Criswell 9.
